The Quest To Be

The Elaborately Painted Doll: Babushka Replicates
for Lucy and Nikko

She stood in the presence of a Great Being, tattered by poverty, numbed from the cold; she was in a desperate way, life threatened. Like the Match Stick Girl, there are no thoughts of a destined death, neither future nor past. She musters life, the present moment, the essential root of all.

The Great Being turns enveloping her in a glance. He knows her, welcomed is her destined arrival. Setting aside his duties to attend her, a calling of the highest priority, he announces with great authority and immediacy to the assembly of Cohort Beings, "I'm taking the day off!"

He stretches out his arms expansively, comfort blankets her, wraps her tenderly, and lifts her into his arms. The glistening spherical work chamber fades into a rest area, a quiet velvet womb of pinkish tint, empty but for a huge lounge chair. Once seated with her nestled on his lap, Great Being begins a sonorous ancient chant lulling her bye-the-bye, harmonic resonance cocooning her, healing, rejuvenating, and seeding the mysterious divination of the not-yet known.

With the pulse of fruition, the cocoon resolves its separation merging into her; painted aqueous strands desiccate, tattooing her with mystical designs and dancing snake-like whorls. She emerges Elaborately Painted Doll, the ensconced heart of Great Being. She as the First Pulse sails freely, absolutely into life, independently creating with no expectant return. Such freedom, such grace, such knowingness! She belongs absolutely; she is the One Unfettered Breath.

In a boon of gratitude for her Savior Being, his Cohort Beings and all possibilities of others, Elaborately Painted Doll replicates herself throughout eternity and beyond. She proclaims, "Whosoever seeks me with certainty and faith, I am yours; I am your birthright if you so choose.

For those who doubt and harbor incredulity, for the meritorious efforts of the exiled, the rebels and separatists, I offer myself to you elementally. Behold! This is for you!  Take note."

Elaborately Painted Doll's exquisite cultural markings begin to fade dripping into vividly colored pools, shimmering live rainbows that quickly evaporate into the waves of doubt, disbelief, and austerity. "I offer you this option. It is my unpainted self, to create or not create as you see fit or not.

Choose me to absolve fear of the common place. Accept me to venture onward reinventing doubt and disbelief into the blessing of uncertainty and what cannot be known throughout eternity and beyond."

The Cohort Beings and many others witness the replication. Many like Original Great Being who waited expectantly for her destined arrival choose the replication. Others who know intense desperation and hardship breathe her in for survival. Many choose her naturally as Truth, Love and Fire within themselves.

It is an individuation, the 'Consummate' Process, male and female aspects of an individual becoming fully conscious of each other recognizing one another, uniting and coordinating as a single androgynous organism.

The individual transforms into a more conscious being revealing a powerful core knowingness of both self and others; as well, the individual is granted a boon of willingness to partner with other individuals in manifesting increased consciousness in the greater cosmic whole.

Om Tat Sat

Read the legend of the Babushka from the storyteller and the history of Russia's colorfully painted Matryoshka nesting dolls. The dolls are constructed from one block of wood, which is cut in half. Then, a piece of wood is taken out of the top and bottom pieces. This continues until there is very little wood left. The wood is carved into an oval shape. The matching pieces are put together. The pieces are painted and nested inside one another.

Folk tales, myths, symbols and dreams, like the one above, spring spontaneously from this great truth-principle of self-reference.  Science and nature also abound with examples and elaborations.  Self-reference is the essential avenue of growth in all walks of life.

Myth and symbols:
The Ouroboros, a dragon that continually consumes itself, is used as a symbol for self-reference.  Ouroboros (or Uroborus ) is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail. It comes from the Greek words oura meaning "tail" and bros meaning "eating", thus "he who eats the tail".

The Ouroboros often represents self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things perceived as cycles that begin anew as soon as they end (the mythical phoenix has a similar symbolism.) It can also represent the idea of primordial unity related to something existing in or persisting before any beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be extinguished. The ouroboros has been important in religious and mythological symbolism, but has also been frequently used in alchemical illustrations, where it symbolizes the circular nature of the alchemist's opus (work). It is also often associated with Gnosticism, and Hermeticism.

Human Psyche:
Carl Jung interpreted the Ouroboros as having an archetypal significance to the human psyche. The Jungian psychologist Erich Neumann writes of it as a representation of the pre-ego "dawn state", depicting the undifferentiated infancy experience of both mankind and the individual child. (see Wikipedia)

Story Telling and Literature:
When a writer refers to himself or herself in the literary work this is considered self-reference, a self-replication of that one. This is very common, for example, in Cervantes's Don Quixote. (Read online.)   A film maker or an artist may do the same in creating his work of art.

Creative ideas change global thought:
Autopoiesis literally means "self-creation" and expresses a fundamental dialectic between structure, mechanism and function. The term was introduced in 1972 by Chilean biologists Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela :  An autopoietic machine is a machine organized (defined as a unity) as a network of processes of production (transformation and destruction) of components which: (i) through their interactions and transformations continuously regenerate and realize the network of processes (relations) that produced them; and (ii) constitute it (the machine) as a concrete unity in space in which they (the components) exist by specifying the topological domain of its realization as such a network.

The space defined by an autopoietic system is self-contained and cannot be described by using dimensions that define another space. When we refer to our interactions with a concrete autopoietic system, however, we project this system on the space of our manipulations and make a description of this projection.

Scientific Applications:
The Matroshka experiments on the International Space Station use a mannequin that has been used to study cosmic radiation dose types and rates that relate to the health of space travellers on long duration missions. The two-part experiment is named for the Matryoshka dolls or Russian nested doll that has various layers of dolls, with the inner layers revealed when the outer layers are opened. In this experiment, the doll has measured the radiation doses of the separate components of the ionizing cosmic radiation at the skin surface and at different locations inside a realistic human torso, in order to establish the relation between skin doses and organ doses. The Brain, A Hypothetical Megastructure
A matrioshka brain is a hypothetical megastructure proposed by Robert Bradbury, based on the Dyson sphere, of immense computational capacity. It is an example of a Class B stellar engine, employing the entire energy output of a star to drive computer systems. This concept derives its name from Russian Matrioshka dolls.

The term matrioshka brain was invented by Robert Bradbury as an alternative to the Jupiter brain, a concept similar to the matrioshka brain, but on a smaller planetary scale and optimized for minimum signal propagation delay. A matrioshka brain design is concentrated on sheer capacity and the maximum amount of energy extracted from its source star, while a Jupiter brain is more optimized for computational speed.

Such a structure would be composed of two or more (typically more) Dyson spheres built around a star, and nested one inside another. A significant percentage of the shells would be composed of nanoscale computers (see molecular-scale computronium). These computers would be at least partly powered by the energy exchange between the star and interstellar space. A shell (or component, should a Dyson swarm be the design model used) would absorb energy radiated onto its inner surface, utilize that energy to power its computer systems, and re-radiate the energy outwards. The nanoscale computers of each shell would be designed to run at different temperatures; shells or components at the core could be nearly as hot as the central star, while the outer layer of the matrioshka brain could be almost as cool as interstellar space. The ideal mechanism for extracting usable energy as it passes "through" a shell or component, the number of shells (or orbital levels) that could be supported in such a manner, the ideal size of the shells to be constructed, and other details, are all issues of speculation.

The idea of the matrioshka brain violates none of the currently known laws of physics, although the engineering details of building such a structure would be staggering, as such a project would require the "disassembly" of significant portions (if not all) of the planetary system of the star for construction materials.
